The Common Entrance Test (CET) is a competitive exam conducted for the purpose of admission of students to the first year or first semester of full-time courses in medical, dental and engineering courses in professional colleges to the various states of India. It is applicable throughout India and a good CET score entails a student a possibility of a scholarship and entrance into hi/her dream university.
The professional colleges in the state offering such courses are affiliated with the state run universities and admit students through the CET annually. The fee structure varies from year to year.
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India. It is one of the more competitive exams that are held in India in order for a student to get into a premier management school. The test scores a candidate on 3 sections:
- Quantitative Ability (QA)
- Verbal an d Reading Comprehension (VRC),
- Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR)
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. The test is conducted every year by one of the IIMs based on a policy of rotation.
The exam consists of 100 questions and the total duration of the test is 180 minutes or 3 hours. However, each section of the test has a time limit of 1 hour each. The test takers cannot switch between the sections and have to attend the test in a particular order.
